Jon Boat Outing in Manchester a Success
Another great jon boat outing in Manchester and Mike Faris was on fire! We fished Friday evening and Mike boated a 30 1/4" Walleye in the South Fork and we saw 6 other fish. Mike took 1st place in the outing Sat with a 40" - 33 1/2" - and boated another Walleye that measured 21". Mike Harris took 2nd with a 33". We had 10 people fish and raised 26 fish, ya ... we missed a bunch!
It is just a great time to get with the people in Clay County, Bill Allen put things together for us, Lynn Frazier was back on the water and it was just great to see him again and we can't wait to get back down there.
Next outing is August 22 in Beattyville on the Ky. River. Hope to see you there.  Scott

Tim Gilbert, Ronnie Simpson and their families put together a super outing at Buckhorn on June 20, 2009. 27 people fished, we picked up 9 new members and Bill Allen took 1st place honors with a 40 1/4" big fish. Nine fish were caught total with James Roach boating a 38", Dave Smith a 37" and Tim Gilbert a 36 1/2" along with the others.
And Tim once again (below) with a somewhat smaller toothy critter.

Boaters, campers and anglers took advantage of the 3 day weekend to fill the campgrounds as well as 12 members from Chapter 52.  It’s not certain if the impact of pulling the water to settle the lake back to summer pool had anything to do with the fishing but it was tough.  At the end of the day Ronnie Simpson’s 35 and 1/2 incher taken on a DCG in Blue Hole was the only fish boated.  A few other fish were seen but nothing that would indicate a pattern.

As always, Chris Haley hosts a phenomenal post tournament dinner.  This year was fresh catfish, barbequed pork loin, and the fixins.  Awesome job Chris

Saxton & Besant Place 1st in Cave
Run Lake Outing April 25, 2009

34 people fished. Frank Saxton fishing with Larry Besant caught a 33" trolling for 1st place and Scott Smalley fishing with wife Cindy caught a 30" casting a X-Rap in Leatherwood for 2nd place. A lot of fish were seen and the bite was tough with fish coming off the spawn, but we have to think fishing at the Cave will be good until the summer heat arrives.

Chipper and Suanne Bushong put on a great cookout at the Johnson Bros. pavilion with Fajita's from the grille and all the trimmings plus a desert of fresh banana bread, strawberrys and whipped cream ... thinking we may be spoiled.

MI 52 Melton Hill Outing January 24th, 2009

Cold, windy, and high blue sky’s made for a tough day on the water.  14 anglers came from Kentucky and Tennessee to give it a shot.  Reports from locals were good.  A lot of big fish had been coming from the lake in the past few weeks.  Ice had formed in sections of Bull Run Creek which was the first time anyone ever seen such a sight.

Everyone headed to the bathtub right out of the gate and Chris Haley was the first to score with a 35 inch fish.  This gave everyone hope but as the day prolonged a few more fish were seen but Chris’s one fish held out for the only boated fish of the day.  Although two low 40 fish were caught and released by locals using live trout as bait.  Yes that is legal in Tennessee.  Congratulations to Chris!!!
